How To: Self-Care Sunday

Whether you're ending a stressful week or preparing to go into one, the best thing you can do for yourself is self-care! It's so nice to take the time to wind down, reflect on your week and prepare for the next. One of my favorite things to do is to run a bath, light a candle, and watch whatever Netflix show I am obsessing over at the time.

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you how I do a self-care Sunday. :)

I like to use Sunday evenings as my self-care and relaxing time. A lot of the time we can get Sunday scaries when you're worried about starting the following week. Whether it be stress with work, tests or presentations in school, or whatever it is, Sunday scaries are a very real thing! So while it may not be easy for everyone, this is our time to take a break and look forward to a fresh start Monday, rather than dreading it.

The first thing I look to do is put on a hair mask. You don't need to do this by any means, especially not every time or if you had already done one that week. But it is a nice first step to a relaxing evening. I brush that into my hair and let it sit for as long as I can if there's a limit on the mask. This is the time I could make some tea or hot chocolate or whatever you like. And, if you feel like it, you can run a bath, get out your favorite skin care, light a candle, turn on your diffuser whatever makes you feel comfortable and relaxed! Turn on your current favorite show, read a book you've been enjoying and take a mental break.

Self-care is all about taking as much time as you need for yourself to take a step back from your worries and sometimes reflect on the past week, reminding yourself of your circle of influence and what you have control over, especially if you're going into a stressful week. I also like to take time after or before that to do a little brain dump in a journal on the things coming up in the next week. Whether it be things you need to do, appointments coming up anything that comes to your mind as you prepare for the following week. This can lead to also laying out your outfit for the next day and packing your bag for the next morning to eliminate as much stress as possible in the morning.

These are things I like to do on a Sunday self-care evening to help me prepare for the next week. You can also turn this into an entire day and just really take a break and relax for as long as you need. It is important to take the time for yourself as often as possible, especially before an exam or any busy weeks that may come up. :)
